AI Prompts to Uncover Your Customer's "Struggling Moment" and Turn It Into Ads
Hey everyone, Happy Friday!
On Monday, we uncovered the most powerful source of ad creative: the "Struggling Moment." That single, frustrating point in time when your customer finally decides, "I've had enough. I need a new way." We learned that ads mirroring this moment don't feel like ads at all they feel like mind-reading.
Finding these moments manually is powerful. But it can be slow.
Today, we automate the entire process. We're installing an AI engine to do the heavy lifting. I’m giving you a two-step AI workflow that will:
Act as a detective, scanning all your customer feedback to automatically find these golden nugget stories of struggle.
Act as a world-class copywriter, turning those raw stories directly into powerful, ready-to-test ad concepts.
This is how you scale empathy and create a non-stop pipeline of ads that connect on a deep, emotional level.
Here’s the AI system we're implementing today:
How to use AI as your "Customer Empathy Engine."
A "Struggle Detective" prompt to mine your reviews for ad gold.
A "Struggle-to-Script" prompt to turn those insights into hard-hitting ad copy.
Let's get into it.
🔍 The Big Idea: AI as Your Customer Empathy Engine
A human is great at reading one customer's story and feeling what they feel. But a human can't read 500 reviews and instantly spot the 72 times the phrase "nightmare to clean" appears.
AI can.
You're not using AI to replace empathy. You're using it to scale your ability to find where empathy is needed most. This workflow uses AI to systematically analyze hundreds of customer stories in seconds and hand you the most potent, recurring moments of struggle.
🧰 Your "Struggling Moment" AI Workflow
This is a simple two-prompt process. The output of the first prompt is the direct input for the second.
Prompt 1: The "Struggle Detective" This prompt sifts through mountains of customer feedback to find the raw material for your next ad campaign.
Act as an expert Jobs-to-be-Done and customer researcher. Your ONLY goal is to find the "Struggling Moments" in the customer reviews provided below.
Completely ignore any praise for our product. I only want you to find and extract the exact sentences where customers describe their life and problems *BEFORE* they found our solution.
Look for descriptions of:
- The specific frustrations they faced.
- The workarounds they were using that failed.
- The "last straw" or "breaking point" that forced them to search for something new.
List these as direct, copy-pasteable quotes.
Here are the customer reviews:
[Paste a batch of your raw customer reviews here. The more, the better.]
Prompt 2: The "Struggle-to-Script" Engine This prompt takes a single, powerful "Struggling Moment" from your research and turns it into multiple, ready-to-test ad concepts.
Act as an elite direct-response copywriter and creative strategist.
I'm giving you a single "Struggling Moment" quote, which is the direct voice of the customer. Your job is to turn this one insight into three distinct ad concepts.
**The Customer's "Struggling Moment" Quote:** [Paste one of the best quotes from the output of Prompt 1. e.g., "I wasted two hours on a Sunday trying to make a simple chart in Excel for my boss. It was so frustrating."]
**YOUR TASK:**
For the quote above, generate 3 distinct ad concepts (A, B, and C). For each concept, provide:
1. **A Video Hook:** A 3-second visual description with on-screen text (OST).
2. **A Headline:** A compelling headline for the ad.
3. **A Short Body Copy:** 2-3 sentences that agitate the problem and introduce the solution.
The tone for all concepts must be deeply empathetic and directly reflect the specific frustration in the quote.
The "Full Timeline" Analysis
The "Struggling Moment" is your most powerful angle for direct response. But as we learned on Monday, it’s just one part of a longer journey. Use this advanced prompt to get ad ideas for your entire funnel.
Modified "Detective" Prompt: "Act as a JTBD researcher. Analyze the following customer reviews and extract direct quotes that correspond to each of the four stages of the Purchase Timeline:
The First Inkling (The first small annoyance)
The Struggling Moment (The breaking point)
The Active Search (What they looked for in a solution)
The Final Hurdle (Their fears before buying)"
This prompt will give you AI-extracted copy for four different campaigns, allowing you to build a full-funnel creative strategy in minutes.
💣 VALUE BOMB (You're a Detective, Not an Artist!)
Your customers have already written your best ads. Your job isn't to be a clever copywriter, dreaming up slogans from scratch. Your job is to be a great detective. Use AI as your magnifying glass to find the brilliant clues they've already left for you in their reviews and feedback.
🛠 TACTICAL TIP (Spy on Your Competitors' Struggles!)
Don't have enough reviews of your own? No problem. Go to a competitor's product page on a site like Amazon. Find their 3-star reviews—these are often the most descriptive, balanced, and honest about specific problems. Copy and paste 10-15 of those reviews into the "Struggle Detective" prompt. AI will instantly give you a list of your competitor's biggest weaknesses, which are your greatest marketing opportunities.
Next Monday, we're shifting our focus from our customers to our competition. Get ready for a deep dive into an aggressive strategy I call the "Competitor Judo Flip" a step-by-step guide to using their marketing momentum against them to steal their best customers.
THE 1% PLAY: The "Audio Goldmine" – Mining Spoken Language for Unfiltered Truth
The "Struggle Detective" prompt is elite for analyzing written text. But text is filtered. Your customers have time to edit their thoughts. The most potent, raw, and emotionally charged "Struggling Moments" are found in how people speak.
The top 0.1% of marketers know this. They analyze audio and video transcripts—from sales calls, support calls, or even YouTube reviews—to find the unfiltered truth. The pauses, the hesitations, the sighs... that's where the real gold is.
The "Audio Goldmine" Execution Plan:
Step 1: Find Your Source. Go to YouTube and search for "[Your Competitor Name] review" or "[Your Product Category] problem." Find a 5-10 minute video of a real person talking about their experience. Alternatively, use a recording of one of your own customer support or sales calls.
Step 2: Get the Raw Transcript. Use a service like Otter.ai or a free YouTube transcribing tool to get a full, unedited text transcript of the conversation. It will be messy, with "ums," "ahs," and false starts. This is perfect. The mess is the signal.
Step 3: Run the "Emotional Subtext" Prompt. This is where the magic happens. Standard prompts look for keywords. This one looks for emotion.
Act as an expert qualitative researcher and psychologist. I am providing you with a raw, unedited transcript from a customer talking about their experience with [Your Product Category].
Your mission is to analyze this transcript to find the "Struggling Moment" with the **highest emotional energy.** Do not just look for keywords. You must find the moments of genuine struggle by identifying these indicators:
- **Hesitations & Fillers:** Where the speaker pauses, stumbles, or uses fillers like "um" or "ugh," indicating they are recalling a real frustration.
- **Repeated Phrases:** When they repeat a word or phrase for emphasis (e.g., "it was just so, so annoying").
- **High-Energy Words:** Specific, emotional words like "hate," "nightmare," "finally," "lifesaver," "literally."
- **Before/After Pivots:** The exact point where they shift from describing their old, broken way to discovering the new way.
**YOUR TASK:**
1. Read the entire transcript.
2. Pull out the ONE to THREE direct quotes that represent the moment of peak struggle.
3. For each quote, write a single sentence explaining **WHY** it has high emotional energy, referencing the indicators above.
Here is the transcript:
[Paste the raw, messy audio transcript here]
The Result: The quotes this prompt extracts are fundamentally different. They aren't clean ad copy; they are raw, authentic human frustration. When you take this unfiltered language—"and I was like... ugh, I literally can't do this anymore"—and use it as the opening line of your ad, spoken in a natural way, the level of resonance you create is something your competitors simply cannot replicate. It's no longer an ad; it's a documented truth.
To the next one, Tomasz.
