Product Research to Ad Angles - Instantly
👋 Hey friends,
Let’s get real: You can’t write compelling ads if you don’t know what’s bugging your customers.
Too many brands assume they know the pain points.
But assumptions lead to generalities – and generalities kill conversions.
Great creative comes from specific, emotional pain that your customer feels in their real life, not on your product page.
This week’s edition is your cheat code to extract that gold – straight from customer reviews, comments, and UGC.
🔍 Big Idea
The most effective ad hooks sound like something your customer would text their friend.
But most ads don’t – because the research never went deep enough.
The secret? Stop summarizing reviews. Start mining them like copywriting gold.
🧱 Framework
💬 The “Pain Point Mining Stack”
Step | Tool | What to Extract |
---|---|---|
1. Scrape Reviews | Amazon, Yotpo, App Store, G2 | Look for patterns in what’s broken or frustrating |
2. Group by Theme | Sentiment clustering | Group similar complaints together – "shipping delay" vs. "confusing sizing" |
3. Score by Intensity | Pain Point Hierarchy | Prioritize based on emotional weight + frequency |
4. Language Scan | Voice of Customer | Highlight phrases they actually use – don’t paraphrase! |
🧠 Pro Tip: Customers rarely say “pain point.” They say “I hate that it always…”
That’s your real copy.
🧠 Real-Life Application
Run This 15-Min Audit
Pick a top competitor on Amazon or Meta Ads Library.
👉 Scrape 50–100 reviews or comments.
👉 Highlight recurring issues or phrases.
👉 Build a “Voice of Customer” doc with direct quotes.
👉 Use them to rewrite your hooks, objections, and CTAs.
Try dropping this quote into your hook:
“I just wanted something that doesn’t break after a week.”
→ Boom. Instant angle: “Built to last. Even when your toddler isn’t.”
🧰 Bonus: AI Prompt to Use Today
This post teaches how to mine real customer language from reviews and comments to uncover emotionally resonant pain points – and turn them into scroll-stopping ad hooks.
You are a DTC copywriter working on Meta ads. Your task is to extract emotionally charged pain points and exact customer phrasing from real customer feedback, then turn that into ad copy.
Follow this “Pain Point Mining” process using the reviews/comments below:
[PASTE 50–100 reviews or comments from Amazon, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, etc.]
1. Cluster Complaints:
Group common frustrations into themes (e.g., “breaks easily,” “hard to use,” “late shipping”).
2. Score by Pain Hierarchy: Rank pain points by:
- Frequency (how often it’s mentioned)
- Emotional intensity (anger, disappointment, regret)
- Solvability (can our product fix this?)
3. Extract Language:
Pull 10–15 direct quotes using customer phrases. Don’t paraphrase — highlight raw, emotional sentences (e.g., “I hate that it always disconnects after 5 minutes”).
4. Generate Hooks from Voice of Customer:
Write 5 ad hooks using the exact phrases or inspired by the emotional tone of the quotes. Each hook should sound like something a customer would text a friend. Examples:
- “Finally — something that doesn’t break after a week.”
- “No more guessing sizes. It just fits.”
Output format:
- Top 3 pain point clusters
- 10 raw customer quotes
- 5 scroll-stopping hooks based on those quotes
🛠️ How to Use It
Use this prompt during your creative research phase. It turns raw review data into a Voice of Customer swipe file – and from there, into ad hooks that actually resonate. Do this before writing a single line of copy.
💣 Value Bomb
Write your hook last – after reading 50 comments.
Let the market write it for you.
The line that sticks probably already lives in a review.
🛠 Tactical Tip
📌 Check YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, and Quora – not just Amazon.
The best emotional language often shows up in video comments or longform rants.
Vibe9’s Instagram Comments Downloader lets you grab real customer language from high-performing Reels. Plug those phrases into your creative… and boom, your ad feels native, not manufactured.
